March 25, 2008: Well, another season is upon us. I didn't do anything special this winter except gain weight. In fact I'm hitting the gym as soon as i finish writing this. I have a Myspace music page now. Please add me to your friends. Yesterday was the first rehearsal for an upcoming event. On September 7, I will be performing a tribute to Rush at Ms Newby's. Rush is one of my favorite bands of all time. The lineup also includes Chris Curry (drums) and Chris Faircloth (Bass).

So what is happening at Harpoon Harry's I hear you ask? Well, I'm not exactly sure. The property was auctioned a couple of weeks ago, so the future is unclear. However, The Breakers and Harpoon Harry's plan to be open all summer. This year, Clutch is back at the Breakers and Mike Van Elsen is on the deck at Harry's. I haven't committed to anything yet. I know I will be at Sharky's again this summer, and with Pier Park opening, I may perform in some new places this year.

I have one particular person who keeps egging me on about a new CD. Kinda like a gnat that keeps buzzing around no matter how much Skin so Soft you put on. Now to this person's credit, I did promise a new CD...last year, but I was going through a Warcraft phase. That takes up some time. I have been recording again recording and you will be able to listen to some rough drafts on  Myspace.

Okay, time to hit the gym.

November something 2006: Well with the closing of Sharky's last week, my season has finally come to an end. I'm going to go on vacation next week, finally. It has been a great summer, although I decided I will never play in a show band again. The upside of the Alleycats was being able to play with some really good people. The downside is that I just can't handle doing the same old show every night. I'm in discussions about what I'll be doing next year. Anyway, I really want to thank everyone that came to see me this past summer. It means a lot to see you guys come back year after year. BTW anyone who filled out the "Contact" form on this website, I'm sorry. Due to a glitch, probably caused by an amateur web designer, whose name is Clay, I did not receive anything this whole summer. Sorry. I'll try to get that fixed. Well, talk to you later. CM

June 14 2006: Wow, long time no news. I am now playing music seven nights a week and golf three days a week. I have people tell me I need to be back at Harpoon Harry's full time. I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon. Cha Chi and the Alleycats will be putting out a live CD sometime this month.

Does any besides me believe that Starbucks is a cult? I wonder if there's a Starbucks in Jonestown?

February 18 2006, The Breakers and Harpoon Harry's will be open for business this summer. Instead of performing on the deck, I will be playing keyboards with "Cha Chi and the Alleycats inside the Breakers. I will still play a night or two outside on the deck and I will still be at Sharky's on most afternoons. This will be a new experience for me, but I'm looking forward to it. I haven't played keyboards for a band for several years and I don't know if I remember how.

August 30, I am starting to hear rumors that Harpoon Harry's will be open next season. I cannot confirm this, but will post something soon when I find out more news. Today, Hurricane Katrina hit the gulf coast. Panama City Beach sustained winds of about 30MPH. Not too bad. We got lucky... Again. ...  Songs I've learned recently - "Sitting, Waiting, Wishing" Jack Johnson; "Alcohol" Brad Paisley; "Good as I Once Was" Toby Keith; "Don't Stop Believing" Journey... Thank to Brian, Drew, and Julie for jamming with me Sunday night. It was a blast... Say a prayer for my friends in Peachtree City...

August: I know I haven't written anything in a while. I keep getting pestered about it from someone in Peachtree City. I decided to play at Sharky's again this year. It's just a fun place to play and after 8 years, I have a lot of good memories there. Something happened at Harpoon Harry's the other night that disturbed me. I was talking to a 19 year old girl while I was on stage and referred to her as "young lady." does that mean I'm getting old. Probably... Randy and crew from Anniston, AL came by again last weekend. I was not aware of Randy's musical abilities and when I finally got him on stage to play guitar, he really impressed me. Randy owns La Bella Donna restaurant in Anniston and I hear it is a great place to eat... My crew from Southern Illinois also came by this week. I had a great time hula-hooping with them although I lost my hat in a contest with 11 year old Jonni. On their last night, I took three of the kids with me to Noah's Ark, a Christian place, to hear the band, Two by Two, play. We had a fun time and the band even invited me up to play Mustang Sally.

March: It's official. I will be playing almost exclusively at Harpoon Harry's for summer of 2005. This will be my fifth season there. Unfortunately it will probably be my last. With all the condos creeping up on the beach, most of our beach clubs and restaurants will soon be gone. They call this progress?

Feb 11: Spent Super Bowl Sunday at J Krash's. Click here for pictures.

Feb 5:
Spent the evening at
94.5 the Fox as a guest for the Saturday Night House party. Got to hang with the House Party crew (Zac, Condom Man, and Rockin' Ron). I even performed three originals live and on-air. ("My Bartender Tried to Kill Me", "The Jager Song", and my newest song, "Nice Guys Finish Last".)

Jan 25: I really need for the summer to get here. Had a marathon session of Party Poker last night. Played until 7:30 am. At least it keeps me out of Ms Newby's. Recorded a new song last night. I may post it on the site. Not sure yet. The new Foghorn's is open on Thomas Drive. Another bar within walking distance. Great.

November 3: Key West is one crazy place, dangerous too. Too much alcohol. I forgot my camera, but I did manage to take a picture from my balcony window with my camera phone. I was right in the middle of all the action. So for now, the season in PCB is over. I think I'll relax for a few months, record a CD and play a few shows here and there with my band.

October 13: From one party town to another... next week, I will be going to Key West, FL to perform at Irish Kevin's on Duval Street. They said all my alcohol was free! Do they really know what they're getting into?

September 17: Survived Hurricane Ivan. As soon as the curfew was lifted, I drove to Jacksonville to see Van Halen. Got back to town and the power was still out, so I made like Abe Lincoln and read by candlelight.

July 2: Well it only took about 4 years but I finally have a CD. I can't decide if it was laziness or complacency that kept me from doing one sooner. This is one of two I will release this year. This one is called "Beach Bum" and it has 12 songs including one original. Melissa Baxter helped out a lot on this including laying down backup vocals on a few tracks. Now to work on my all original project.

May 15: Just completed work on Melissa Baxter's CD "Under Cover", a collection of - you guessed it - cover songs. It was my first endeavor into the world of producing and engineering. Melissa made my job real easy by being such a great performer.

April 5: I thought my first week back in Panama City would kill me. I played all last week at J. Krash's (Thanks Mark and J.) and everybody decided to welcome me back by buying me a shot of Jäger. Seventeen in one night (says the Keith the bartender. I stopped counting at seven). It was great to see everyone, though, even if I can't remember seeing them clearly. Thanks to Melissa Price for being my designated driver. Time to get down to business now and start recording. I will let everyone on my mailing list know when my CD comes out.

February 22: I'm leaving CO March 26 and taking a mini-tour on the way back, stopping in St. Louis, Indy, and Nashville along the way. Planning to be back in PCB April 1 (No fooling). Wondering if I can cope now that Key West B&G is sold.

Key West Bar and Grill is officially sold and the news is that former owner Beverly Hill will now be bartending at Ruthie T's. This should be interesting as Bev has done more than anyone else in the past several years to promote live music on the beach. I believe Ruthie T's may now start being the new hotspot on the beach. I hope so because it's close enough to walk home from. ; - )
